Flora Danica finds its inspiration in the eponymous 18th century atlas of botanicals that was the first to categorize the native, wild plants of the Danish Kingdom.
At the end of the summer, our R&D team went searching for interesting plants around our distillery and greater Copenhagen. They brought back ingredients that are typical of the landscape and represent quintessentially Danish flavors: pineapple weed, also known as wild chamomile, rosehip seeds, Noble fir cones and Douglas fir cones.
Flora Danica, although a snapshot of summer, is apt for the holiday season: it’s a crisp, herbaceous spirit with spiced undertones and a slightly bitter finish. The final blend is rested in cognac casks to impart a pleasant woodiness that rounds out the final profile.
